The Wind, One Brilliant Day

The wind, one brilliant day, called
to my soul with an odor of jasmine.

“In return for the odor of my jasmine,
I’d like all the odor of your roses.”

“I have no roses; all the flowers
in my garden are dead.”

“Well then, I’ll take the withered petals
and the yellow leaves and the waters of the fountain.”

the wind left. And I wept. And I said to myself:
“What have you done with the garden that was entrusted to you?”

 Moana Te-nui-a-Kiwa, kuini
A Maori inspired design, an ocean diety in her fish form, hand hewn from Purbeck stone liberated from Kimmeridge bay, carved directly the old fashioned traditional way and fused with found, shaped metal collected from the same bay.
This is a complete one off, no casts, no copies. Can be bolted to a wall or rested upon an un-even plynth such as a log (can be provided).
This sculpture was made with garden insects in mind. I have included lots of hidden holes and nooks for insects to hide in and make this piece of unique art their home. A signed certificate of authentication comes with this piece of art and a portfolio of photo images illustrating the creation of Moana Te-nui-a-Kiwa, kuini.
